Can You Feel It

In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove.
And from this groove came the groove of all grooves.

And while one day viciously throwing down on his box,
Jack boldly declared,
“Let there be house!”
And house music was born.

I am, you see, I am the creator,
And this is my house.

And, in my house there is only house music.
But, I am not so selfish,
Because once you enter my house,
It then becomes our house and our house music.

And, you see, no one can own house,
Because house music is a universal language,
Spoken and understood by all.

You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand,
Unless you’re deep into the vibe of house.

House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body.
And, as I told you before,
This is our house and our house music.

And in every house, you understand, there is a keeper.
And, in this house, the keeper is Jack.

Now some of you who might wonder, who is Jack?
And what is it that Jack does?

Jack is the one who gives
you the power to jack your body.
Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake.
Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm.

Jack is the one who learns you how to rock your body.
Jack is the one that can bring nations and nations
Of all Jackers together under one house.

You may be black, you may be white,
You may be Jew or Gentile,
It don’t make no difference in our House.

And this is fresh.

Balmes (Better Life)

I think I need a change of scenery,
Warm water, sunshine on my foot,
Just like my daydream.

And on the nightly,
Everything is hot and sticky,
But it’s OK,
’cause no one
Plans to sleep here anyway.

Ooohohoh, oooh.

Be..eee… Because, we all want a better life.
I think I found it in this place.
Everything is so sublime.
You should come with meeeee.
We all want a better life.
I think I found you just in time,
And I’m feeling so divine.
We all want a better life.

And I’m not going home,
I’m not ever going home.

I think I need a change of scenery.
Yeah
I think I need you to be here with me.
Oh

We all want a better life.
I think I found it in this place.
Everything is so sublime.
You should come with me.
We all want a better life.
I think I found you just in time,
And I’m feeling so divine.
We all want a better life.

Lovely

Looking back at my life I see
The emptiness and pain that was inside of me
My faded memory only reminds me
How you helped put the past behind me

You are the one like sun
Beaming light rays into my eyes

You are the like the sun
Beaming light rays into my eyes

I can’t describe the way I feel
The words escape me, it so real
But you’re lovely, in the best way

In the best way,
Aah, in the best way

Lovely like the rain on a summers day
You wash away my pain in every way
You came along and showed me that I made it
And they say that love is never for the jaded

I can’t describe the way I feel
The words escape me it’s so real
But you’re lovely
In the best way

In the best way
Aah, in the best way

Because you’re lovely,
So lovely
You’re lovely,
In the best way

In the best way
Aah, in the best way

(Saxophone…)

Aah.

you’re lovely,
So lovely
You’re lovely

I can’t describe the way I feel
The words escape me it’s so real
But you’re lovely
In the best way

In the best way
Aah, in the best way
Aah, in the best way

So lovely in the best way

You came along and showed me that I made it
They say that love is never for the jaded

My Beat

As we dance to a beat that seems out of time
To the one you feel in the metronome of your mind
Does it offend you that our rhythm looks strange
Or causes you thinking to be re-arranged?
Could it be that you would understand this beat to which we dance
More clearly had you been given the chance?

So as you struggle to find the feel with your feet,
Ask yourself, can you dance to my beat?

Can you? Can you dance to my beat? (x8)

Watch us get down to this groove with an Afro-funk feel
While we get hiiiiigh to a rhythm with spiritual appeal
Expressions of freedom from the descendants of slaves
G-d gives us the strength for new horizons we must brave
First bondage, than mental, now financially oppressed
With this beat we dance we know we’ve passed the test
So as you struggle to catch the rhythm with your feet

Ask yourself, can you dance to my beat
Can you? Can you dance to my beat? (x12)
To my beat (x4)

The rhythm… The rhythm… The rhythm… is.. our power.. section.
The freedom we feel in our soul
We dance to learn those lessons
As our story continues to unfold
Our beat, our words our melodies, our gifts
From the givers of those gifts
We’re merely the terminals to which they have passed
So as you struggle to catch the rhythm with your feet,

Ask yourself, can you really dance to my beat
Can you? Can you dance to my beat? (x8)

As we dance to a beat that seems out of time
To the one you feel in the metronome of your mind,
Does it offend you that our rhythm looks strange
Or causes you thinking to be re-arranged?
Could it be that you would understand those beats to which we dance
More clearly had you been given the chance?

So as you struggle to find the feel with your feet,
Ask yourself, can you really, really dance to my beat?

Don’t Change For Me

In your eyes, I see questions.
Every day. Tripping lately. Wondering.
In your hands, you see
Is my heart offered to you.
Hope you don’t worry that you
Will not be able to hold on.

Yeah Yeah. Yeah Yeah Yeah.

Don’t change for me. No.
Don’t change for me. No.

Yeah Yeah. Yeah Yeah Yeah.

This I choose, near and far,
Through it all, you’re my baby
I just need you to see the way
Love!

After all, it will lead us
To the day, that we dreamed of
Where we can spread our wings and fly

Don’t change for me. No.
Don’t change for me. No.

I love you just the way you are
Oh baby you’re my shining star

Don’t change for me.
Don’t change for me.
